Quantities and Unit

Quantities is anything that can be measured and expressed numerically. The units are complementary description of magnitude in order to compare the results. Example : the table length is 100 cm, then the "long table" is quantities, "100" is a value, and "cm" is a unit.

In physics, there are 2 quantities : base and derived quantities. There are only 7 base quantities and many derived quantities. Both are often used in physics and everyday life.

The above table shows the base quantities along with the unit and symbol
